چکیده

In this paper, we propose a general and powerful theory of the plasmonic enhancement of the many-body phenomena resulting in a closed expression for the surface plasmon-dressed Coulomb interaction. We illustrate this theory by computing the dressed interaction explicitly for an important example of metal–dielectric nanoshells which exhibits a rich resonant behavior in magnitude and phase. This interaction is used to describe the nanoplasmonicenhanced Förster resonant energy transfer (FRET) between nanocrystal quantum dots near a nanoshell. 3 On sabbatical leave as an Invited Professor at l’Institut d’Alembert, Ecole Normale Supŕieure de Cachan, 94235-Cachan, France. 4 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Giant Plasmonic Energy and Momentum Transfer on the Nanoscale

We have developed a general theory of the plasmonic enhancement of many-body phenomena resulting in a closed expression for the surface plasmon-dressed Coulomb interaction. It is shown that this interaction has a resonant nature. We have also demonstrated that renormalized interaction is a long-ranged interaction whose intensity is considerably increased compared to bare Coulomb interaction ove...

Renormalization of Coulomb interactions in s-wave superconductor NaxCoO2

We study the renormalized Coulomb interactions due to retardation effect in NaxCoO2. Although the Morel-Anderson’s pseudo potential for a1g orbital μ ∗ a1g is relatively large because the direct Coulomb repulsion U is large, that for interband transition between a1g and e ′ g orbitals μ ∗ a1g,eg is very small since the renormalization factor for pair hopping J is square of that for U . Therefor...

Nanoplasmonic surfaces enabling strong surface-normal electric field enhancement.

Conventional two-dimensional (2D) plasmonic arrays provide electric field intensity enhancement in the plane, typically with a surface coverage around 50% in the plan-view. Here, we show nanoplasmonic three-dimensional (3D) surfaces with 100% surface coverage enabling strong surface-normal field enhancement. Experimental measurements are found to agree well with the full electromagnetic solutio...

A Model Study of Discrete Scale Invariance and Long-Range Interactions

We investigate the modification of discrete scale invariance in the bound state spectrum by longrange interactions. This problem is relevant for effective field theory descriptions of nuclear cluster states and manifestations of the Efimov effect in nuclei. As a model system, we choose a one dimensional inverse square potential supplemented with a long-range Coulomb interaction. We study the re...
